| After thanksgiving break, Carolyn brought back a whole bunch of Christmas decorations and so we decided to decorate our rooms instead of doing our homework. Believe me, putting up lights along the edges of your ceiling is a great way to procrastinate - it takes up so much time but it's so much fun too.
Megan and Fei getting ready to hang those lights up.
Naturally, if you have Christmas lights and lots of people, you'll try to put the Christmas lights on the people instead of where they're supposed to go. Looks prettier, anyway. Oh and the third person in that picture is Carolyn. These three are my super cool and crazy roommates!
This picture is rather fuzzy because I was trying to take it without flash. Using Flash makes the lights look weird. But ya, roommates have to get on with decorating instead of posing for the camera so I had to be content.
Yup, we have a mini-Christmas tree in our room. See, the Christmas lights don't show up as well with the flash on.
Anything that can go around the Christmas tree can go around a person too. Don't you think Fei should keep her new headband?
After finishing Megan and Carolyn's room, we did Fei's and mine. The person behind me, sitting on the bed is Ryan. He brought pumpkin pie and whipped cream over (to celebrate my birthday which was on Thanksgiving Day this year) and started a tickle war.
---off on a tangent--- For thanksgiving day this year, I was (still am) thankful for friend, roommates and family who have been there for me throughout this difficult semester; for reminding me about how good God still is, for making me smile and laugh and cry, but most of all for being there and sharing your lives with me. | | |
| It's been months since I last blogged. But I feel like I just left home a couple of weeks ago. Months really have passed though, a whole semester. And now it's winter break with Christmas just around the corner. The general assumption is that good events go by quickly while the bad ones seem to drag on but this was not the case for me this past semester. It wasn't totally bad, don't get me wrong, because there were tons of sweet, fun, crazy memories (coming soon in future blogposts, hopefully) but those amazing moments were set against and tainted by stress and tiredness. I'm definitely ready for a new year - one that is yet unblemished and, hopefully, full of 'life' and I wish you the same.
Merry Christmas, Aud

| "Wait! Cannot go down!" Andrea ordered me as she came upstairs.
"Why?" I asked with a grin. I thought she was just being annoying-for-fun, as usual.
"Family time!" she replied.
It's been years since I've had that. Until I was
about
twelve (I think), my family would come together every night for a time
of bible
story and prayer. This ritual was what we called family time. We
stopped when things got busy and when my older sister and I started
sleeping at 1 AM. Until now.
Dad read from the 365 Bible Stories book. Today's story was about God's call to Abraham in Genesis 12. Then Dad read
the July 11 entry too because they didn't have time yesterday. This was
about the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11).
"You know why trouble came to the people?" Mom asked when Dad finished explaining the stories.
"Why?"
"Because they tried to be smarter than God. So, you
see... when we think we're smarter than God, trouble will come."
It's such a simple
lesson and so obvious. Yet we fail to realize that like these people,
we too have tried to be smarter than God when we try to do things our
way. This is a very real struggle for me; I find it really hard to let
God be in control of my life. I ignore His call to trust Him. And
this is when the trouble actually begins.
But God is good; He will still calm the storm. Then He will
turn to me and ask, "Why are you still afraid (to trust me)? Do you
still have no faith? (Mark 4:40)"
And, "I tell you the
truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will
never enter the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 18:3)."
"Understand?" Mom asked.
"Yes," Andrea answered.
"Can we be smarter than God?"
"No." Simple ;)

| Learned miming to 'No Sacrifice' at Doulos today (was there with SU for
a Youth Leaders' training). The lyrics is a confession and commitment
of faith that I very much want to take as my own.
No Sacrifice
Jason Upton
To you I give my life, not just the parts I want to
To you I sacrifice these dreams that I hold on to
Your thoughts are higher than mine
Your words are deeper than mine
Your love is stronger than mine
This is no sacrifice
Here's my life
To you I give the gifts
Your love has given me
How can I hoard the treasures that you've designed for free?
Because
Your thoughts are higher than mine
Your words are deeper than mine
Your love is staronger than mine
This is no sacrifice
Here's my life
To you I give my future
As long as it may last
To you I give my present
To you I give my past
Because
Your thoughts are higher than mine
Your words are deeper than mine
Your love is stronger than mine
Your thoughts are higher than mine
Your words are deeper than mine
Your love is stronger than mine
This is no sacrifice
Here's my life
p/s Do look up Jason Upton. I listened to a couple of other short clips
from his 'Faith' CD and they sounded pretty good. Maybe I'll get it one
day.

| Yay! Managed to figure out how to load music on my xanga (FileDen rocks!) :) This piece is Moon
River from Breakfast at Tiffany's on the piano. There's one section where the rhythm is wonky. I'll try recording it again until then... Comments and criticisms
welcome.
